Set Free From The Old Me.

When Christ came to live in our lives at the time of our conversion, the  Spirit of God took up residence.  The Spirit of God is now living within us.  We have His power.  That’s the power of the triune God living in us.  When He takes up residence, we are set free from our former master’s domination.  The Holy Spirit comes to give us a completely new kind of life…..a life lived on another plane.  Lived above guilt and shame, lived above the fears of life.  He enables us to live as victors and not victims.
The old nature is still there but you don’t have to listen to it and you don’t have to spend time with it.  You certainly don’t have to yield to it or live under its control.  You can live above that level if you really understand and accept the benefits of the grace of God.  That’s what Romans 6:11 is all about:  “Consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Does the Spirit free us from sin?  No!  The ugly truth is we sin because we want  to!  We give in to the old nature that we had been enslaved to so much of our life.

But thanks to the power of God, we can be forgiven.
