HOW TO HELP

The  2011 Holston Annual Conference is collecting items for Care Kits. This year the Mission is helping Liberia and Zimbabwe. Our Church's donations are going to help the people of Liberia. These are items we generally take for granted. These items are packaged in ziploc bags with $5 shipping. Below is a list of the items the Knoxville District is to collect. The goal for the District, is for the Knoxville Methodist Churches to collect  400 kits. If you can bring one thing on the list, or all of them, anything is appreciated. As always, we  will also accept monetary donations. If you don't have time to shop, we will shop for you. I will provide the Ziploc bags and package the items donated. Please donate to this very worthy cause.

1 bath towel

1 bottle of roll-on deodorant

1 bottle of cologne or perfume

2 tubes of toothpaste (6 oz)

1 bottle of shampoo (12 oz or less)

1 wash cloth

1 tube of antibacterial ointment

1 bottle aspirin or Tylenol (24ct)

2 toothbrushes

1 bottle of lotion (11oz or less)

All kits are to be dropped off June 10, 2011  at a designated District drop-off site and I will take care of the arrangements for that. Together we can make a big difference, in bringing supplies, where they are very much needed.  Thanks Susan Geissberger Outreach Committee

What does the Bible mean?

A father was approached by his small son who told him proudly, 'I know what the Bible means!'
His father smiled and replied, 'What do you mean, you 'know'
what the Bible means?       The son replied, 'I do know!'
'Okay,' said his father.  'What does the Bible mean?'
'That's easy, Daddy...' the young boy replied excitedly,'
It stands for 'Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.'

From the Nuture Committee

From Nurture Committee:

We have been looking at “Christianity’s Family Tree”, a study by Adam Hamilton, on Sunday evenings.  I present the following quote from his presentation which makes a lot of sense.

“Bible Study and a Love of the Word”
“If you are not a Bible reader and have not been in Bible study, I would take this opportunity to say that you are missing out on a profound experience that will change your life; and I hope that you will come to read and love the Scriptures.”

Men, you are invited to join the UMM each Monday evening at 7pm in the fellowship hall for Bible Study.  It truly is a “profound experience”.  Ask any of the men attending.

Ladies, I implore you to listen to God’s call, join together and begin a Bible study.  Need help?  Contact Chairperson of the Nurture Committee.
